Who We Are

Founded by restaurateurs in 1936 to give San Francisco restaurants a collective voice, the Golden Gate Restaurant Association (GGRA) has evolved to be the Bay Area culinary community's representative and trusted partner. GGRA supports and celebrates its members through year-round educational programming, professional development, and annual events including SF Restaurant Week, Eat Drink SF, The Saucys, and Industry Conference. The member community includes restaurants of all sizes and profiles.

What We've Done

In 2019, nearly 400 attendees across the hospitality sector joined us for dynamic conversations, gained insights from their peers, and had their questions answered. Here is a recap of resources and key takeaways from 2019.

What We Will Do

The GGRA’s annual Industry Conference is a must-attend event for Bay Area restaurant owners and operators as well as hospitality industry stakeholders and service providers. The conference is a unique opportunity for the industry to come together for two days of highly relevant, curated programming. 2019 featured 12+ panels on topics ranging from tipping and digital marketing insights to mental health in the restaurant industry; 4+ keynotes including one by San Francisco Mayor London Breed and an economic forecast by Wells Fargo Senior Economist Mark Vitner; networking receptions and sexual harassment training.

This year we launched a one-day Manager Bootcamp, which is a curriculum designed for restaurant managers, covering topics such as reading a P&L, understanding food & labor costs, HR & managing people, service and more.

This program quickly sold out at the conference so we have decided to build this into our year-round educational programming. Please email ggra@ggra.org to find out details and date for the next session.
